Kathi Sittner, BA, MEdKathi has a B.A. in German and M.A. in Teaching. She is a genealogist and research consultant living in Salt Lake City, Utah. She first became interested in genealogy while a teenager in the late 1960's, because h er great
grandmother, who lived to be 102, spoke of some old family notes and
stories written down about one of her immigrant English ancestors. Kathi's interest was further piqued by contacts
with relatives on her mother’s side who remained in Germany
after her
grandparents immigrated to America in 1930. These stories and contacts
soon led to a lifetime passion and pastime of finding her own family
roots, now archived in an entire room full of binders filled with
documents and stories. This exploration of family
history led to a wide range of genealogical experience in numerous
localities and time periods.
After teaching German for several years, working as a travel agent for ten more years, and raising four children, Kathi was asked to manage Ancestry, Inc.’s research department and to be a contributing author in Ancestry’s Magazine. She wrote their “Basics for Beginning Genealogical Research and Record Keeping” pamphlet and revised their charts and forms. She then began doing research for private clients, an activity which has continued for more than ten years. She also initiated, authored, and edited a newsletter focusing on one of her own ancestral families for the past eight years. Kathi works as a beta tester for a genealogy software company, as well. In her free time, Kathi enjoys continuing her own family research, playing the piano, and swimming. Kathi is available for all United States research commissions and assistance with German immigrants, as well. You can ask for a free estimate, or contact Kathi directly about research feasibility for your ancestry. Kathi is happy to provide you a detailed list of research suggestions, sources and methodologies to help you solve your family history research brick wall. Articles Online
