Welcome to ProGenealogists - Trusted Family History Research

Ohio Genealogy Databases

Ohio began recording births, marriages, and deaths in 1867 on the county level. It wasn't until November 1908 that the State of Ohio required births, marriages, and deaths to be recorded at the state level, too. From 1867 to November 1908, you will need to write to the county in Ohio that the vital event occurred in order to get a copy of the original record. We have access to death certificates from November 1908 to 1944 and can make the copies for you. For copies of birth certificates from 1908 and death certificates from 1945 to present-day, please write to the State of Ohio.
